Octagonal Barrels

Barrelitis has crept into my life again ...

I am currently shooting IHMSA with an octagonal 22LR, both Small Bore and Field Pistol. I'd like to get a .357 barrel for FP, but I'm debating on whether to get a Bull or Octagonal. If accuracy is consistent enough between the 2, I'd just as soon get an Octagonal (same grips, aesthetics ... and cheaper!)

Would the Bull make a significant difference?

I shot my first BB 40 with an octagonal .25-35; accuracy wasn't an issue.  Recoil might be in BB, but for FP I doubt it.  My octagonal barrels do heat up faster, but then again in FP that is less of a problem.

All else being equal, the bull will probably shoot with a little more precision.   But except in a shoot-off, I doubt enough so that it would make enough difference to matter.   Your confidence is what counts - buy the barrel you want and then practice, practice, practice.
