Felt recoil
« on: June 04, 2004, 11:21:11 AM »
Recently - I bought a Ruger Vaquero, 5,5" in .45 LC.  With a "hot" load - I feel less recoil with that - than with a Blackhawk, 7,5" barrel.   The flat trigger guard on the BH is terrible to the middle finger.  I can`t feel the Vaq`s guard.  Maybe that is the reason for the difference in felt recoil?

I hear a lot of people comment on the difference in the Vaquero and the regular black hawk. The grip frame on the Vaquero is a little longer and is at more of a 90% degree angle. I have both black hawks and vaqueros and sure can tell the difference in shooting them. Good luck sir...Joe.......

I don't care for the Bisley grip myself, they just don't feel comfortable to me. I think one of the problems with the Super Blackhawk trigger guard is that the trigger can pinch the trigger finger when fired with heavy loads.  The distance between the tip of the trigger and the guard increases as the trigger comes back, and can pinch the finger when it goes forward, particularly under heavy recoil. I have one I welded up to make into a round guard.
