My first kill with my 1377. I didn't have my red dot sight on it then, but my next hunt will. :-)

You need to come to Georgia to shoot rats!
Bring a Saddle and you can ride one while you shoot
at others!
I know this is going to make us sound more "REDNECKED"
than most people already think we are, But have you ever heard of a "RAT KILLIN"?
Well, those really happen here!  I don't farm,
but when some of my neighbors start harvesting their
corn or peas (Large Fields) you always start on the outside and
work your way to the middle with your harvester machinery.
This will run the "Field Opossums" I mean field rats to the
middle of the field. The last few passes will scatter them every where.
Then the fun begins. On a big field you can easily go through several
boxes of shotgun shells.
Purpose for this you ask!
If you don't shoot them where are they going to end up?
In your Barn hay rooms and storage bins!
These vermin can do a great deal of Damage!
Vir prudens non contra ventum mingit

Got a lot of "woods" rats in my area. Had one chew up a cat. These rats are almost as big as the wharfe rats I used to see around the navy docks.
My G. shep. and mixed breed dog make short work of them. I take a single shot .22 and cb shorts and pop them at night. Have tried all kinds of poisons including anti-freeze and it dosent seem to work. Between the cb shorts and my pellet gun keeping them down a little.

aww i thought it was gonna be huge..:). we dont count the tail in the uk. They say everything is small here but you should see some of the rats on our landfill sites or alotments (groups of small farms where old men who had wartime rationing still raise chickens or breed homing pigeons[dont ask]) i mentioned in a post about pellets, a rat i saw still jumping and screaming (weird noise) with three 9 grain pellets in its back end. That one was the biggest i ever shot and its body was around 11 inches. The begger didnt die till it rolled over in agony and i put a 4th in the soft belly. Good old falcon raptor fn12 lighthunter. re-load without losing aim. On the other hand i dont have a photo so youll think this is a fishermans tale. Good shooting but try to find the parents...hehehehe
