I have a Browing BLR-USA 243cal. Barrel marked " Made in USA"
Patent Pending. Does anyone have any info about this rifle. Ser. #
Starts 6K-----.  I was told by someone from Winchester that it was not safe to shoot. The rifle is like new with a steel reciever. Any comments
would greatly be appreciated. Thanks  .......REB911[/b]

Who at Winchester told you that and what was the reason they gave for such a statement?  Lawdog

Reb911 :  model BLR USA ( Quote from the blue book of values )  243 or 308 this model was originally sched. to be manu. by TRW in Cleve. Oh. for Browning, Originally assembled in 1966, these rifles are considered PROTOTYPES as they were never sold through regular channels and at one time were scheduled to be destroyed, approx 50-250 of these exist, some still NIB. worth from somewhere between $450/$995 and maybe even more to a Browning collector or even browning themselves. :D    JIM

jhm is right.  The quality of the TRW guns was quite variable with numerous changes in design and some were considered unsafe.  Gun Digest had an article many years ago on the American BLR's.  As said, these are for Browning collectors, not using.
