Looking For BP
« on: January 11, 2003, 12:52:42 AM »
I'm a newbie here and really like what I've seen, hope you can point me in the right direction. Been readin and thinking about a BPCR and just put together a deal with someone on a 1874 in 45/70 to see how I like this stuff. I'm having a devil of a time locating real BP around here, called every shop I could find, nobody wants to touch the stuff. I do have some Cleanshot that I use in my TC Hawken, but want to locate the real McCoy to use. Looks like the net may be the only way for me to buy it. So to make a long story short, do you fellas have any recommendations on where to send my money and is there a preferred brand. Thanks

The best way  would be go to a Cowboy (SASS) shot in your area and talk to the  guys shooting the back to find out were they get it.  The cost of shipping (Has Mat) would make it to expesssive in a maner of speeking to be worth  it

Down in the Blackpowder mortar and cannon forum we are collecting a list of resources for our activity.  We have links to all the powder suppliers in the U.S. We have links to GOEX, KIK, Elephant, Schuetzen and Swiss Powders.  Of the two bulk powder suppliers we only have a link via GEOX to Clear Shot.  Go to www.hodgdon.com for Triple 7.   (Good stuff in my 577/450.)

If any one has any more links let me know so we can list them.

By the way that PowderInc outfit says on their website that they will ship powder in 5 lbs cases.  This is something I haven't seen offered before and makes powder much more affordable/available.

Not trying to be picky, just helpful.

The link to Goex is http://www.goexpowder.com

Razz, I just ordered 25 lbs of mixed BP from www.powderinc.com, and found that I could not only mix different sizes of one brand, but was able to try some of several mfgs as long as it is ordered in case lots of 5, 10, 25, or 50 lb cases.  I am getting Goex, Kik, and some Swiss in this case.  Hope this helps :D

As Marsh advised go to the GOEX web sight. Look for Hall's Expolsives. There in PA and have a good price. It's even a better price if you pick it up. They only have Goex in 25lb case and will not mix grades.

Thanks Fellas. Was in Detroit on business week b4 last and went to Cabelas. They stock Goex, so I picked some up along with a few other asssorted goodies   Received my compression stem from Buffalo Arms so I can get back to loading as soon as fininsh the remodeling job and  clean out the clutter surrounding my loading bench.
