Wrong magazine for .22 Ruger "Standard"?
« on: June 08, 2004, 01:06:29 AM »
I bought 2 x Ruger Mk-I magazines thinking they'd fit my "Standard" .22 pistol.

They appear to be almost identical except that the round spring knob thing is on the WRONG SIDE of the magazine, thus preventing it from loading into the "Standard".

1. Is there a special "Standard" magazine, and where can I buy them?

2. Can I modify the Mk-I to fit the standard?

If I'm not mistaken you can disassemble it and change the button to the other side. Remove the floor plate and every thing drops out the bottom. Seems like I put one together backwards once.   KN

How do I remove the floor plate?

Look at the bottom, There should be a little button protruding into the floor plate. Push it in while pushing the floor plate forward. It will slide right off. Be careful of the spring and the button plate as they will go flying if you remove it too fast. I'm going from memory here so I hope every thing I tell you is correct.  KN
