Looking for a new Varmint Handgun

Hey folks I'm in the market for a new varmint handgun, I came across Taurus Mod. M218SS12. I have this round in a single shot rifle and reload for it. Does anyone have any info or pros or cons dealing with this model???

Hey Dick,
 I have a raging bee w/10" barrel. Had some problems with Taurus quality but they got that straightened out. Since I have had it back mounted a 2-6 scope and done some load development. It is a fun gun to shoot but it has its limitations. Normal groups with 40-46gr. bullets run .75@50yds., 2"@100yds.  So far does well with 40-46 gr, bullets at low to medium pressure, you can't load close to what maximum is in a loading manual, cases will try to back out just like a 22 Jet.. 40 gr. vmax's are definitely out, just won't stabilize. Got some 30 gr. sierra hollow oints the other day will be trying them later this week. Anything in particular I can help with just let me know.

I have found that 50 gr bullets work best in my 10" and in my mdl 43 Win 218Bee

Hi dr71749,

I had that same lockup problem when I first bought my Raging Hornet. It turns out that all I needed to do was give it a very thorough cleaning and I have not had the problem since. It seems that whatever lube/oil they had on it from the factory was the problem and you have to clean it really good to remove it all. I am using the Hornady 35gn V-Max with no back out or lock up problems whatsoever now.

I have been using it with open sights so far and I am about to mount the scope base to it. Should I use any type of lock tight on the screws?
