Aren't the Remington 11-48, Sportsman 48, and the Mohawk 48 made in the early 70s the same gun as far as function and mechanism. I know the Mohawk 48 does not have the quality wood finish or fancy Reciever engraving that the others have. 3 round capacity or 5?? Thanks for any feedback.

My father owns a Remington Model 48, 20 gauge. It's a skeet gun with a factory 3 shot capacity, but is easily made to a 5 shot. I've searched every where for replacement parts for the gun, and have found many dead ends. His model has a gold trigger as well as a gold saftey. If you could point me in the right direction to find any info on this model i would be very thankful.

Try Gunparts Corp. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/. They have some parts, but inventory changes from time to time. Some 1100 parts fit too. I had an 11-48 ( 5 shot) and used an 1100 bolt handle when I lost mine. I think the Sportsmen model was the same except was 3 shot capacity.

I picked up the 48 I had been looking at. Some idiot had carved his initials into the reciever with a dremel tool.
Initials from old 48 gone. It can be done!! My restoration project is progressing smoothly.
