7600 7mm08

I took my new 7600 to the range today to get it sighted in. I put a VX2 1X4 Leupold on it with Talley one piece rings. I really enjoy the rifle. It's one of a special run from Grice with the laminated stocks. My son (High Brass) bought it for me.

Please let us know how the rifle shoots. I like the way my 7400 handles when scoped and imagine that the 7600 should handle about the same. The last 7600 I handled had a squarish shaped forestock with basket weave checkering. Personally it did not fit me for fast offhand shooting, but the rifle was very accurate and my hunting buddy has used it for years with good success.

Try this link. The rifles don't have a recoil pad. http://www.remington.com/firearms/centerfire/7600_laminated.htm

I bought both 35's from Grices for my self last year and love them both. I am thinking of the laminated for my son. What are the good and bad points of the 25-06 or the 7mm-08 for deer. This rifle is offered in these two calibers.MIKE.

The 25-06 has more ammo selections than the 7-08. The 25-06 normally has a 24" barrel or longer and the 7600 only has a 22" barrel so there will be a bit more noise. The 7-08 would have more capability on larger game with the heavier bullets available. They probably kick about the same in a 7600. The 25-06 is king of the dual purpose cartridges (.243,6mm Rem,257 Rob). The 7-08 seems to slowly gain in popularity.

Go to www.gricesgunshop.com and check out the M7600s.  I like the one that I bought for "Dave in WV".  Even though I bought his M760 in 30-06 a few years ago, I would've probably bought two if I had more money than sense :) .  I personally believe that the 25-06 is better served with a 24" or longer barrel length.  This is just my thoughts.   The 7mm-08 really does appeal to me even though I don't have one.  Inherently accurate cartridge, apparently easy to load for, wide variety of 7MM bullets, low felt recoil, plenty of energy for my needs, and barrel life should be quite good. Those M760/7600s have a real good feel to them IMO and they're made for deer hunters that hunt on their feet.
