Ruger or Taurus?
« on: June 13, 2004, 09:01:08 PM »
I am interested in buying a single six ruger with a 9 1/2" barrel in 22lr/22mag or the taurus raging bull in 22 mag. What is the pros and cons of these two hand guns? Is one more accurate that the other? What do you think about one of these hand guns in a 17hmr? If you own one of these revolvers let me know what you like or dislike including accuracy. Thanks! :D

Without going to their site to check I don't think Taurus makes the RB in a rimfire version. Even if they did I'd not buy it. Way too heavy for a rimfire. With the quality problems and customer service problems they've been having lately I'd pass on the Taurus anyway. Get the Ruger.

I've seen those Single Six 9.5" barrel guns shoot with the best of them. Years ago my best friend (now deceased) shot one and I shot a S&W 17 with 8-3/8" barrel. We were never able to tell any difference in the accuracy of the two. Both would easily do an inch at 25 yards.

I'd go with the Ruger.  I have a NR-9 that I use in IHMSA for small bore and is very accurate to 100 meters.

Ruger hands down. I tried for 7 years to wear one out and it only shot better.

I`ve got a RB in .454 and it`s a great gun. Very accurate and not much recoil. Mine is one of the earlier one. From what I`ve been hearing lately I`m not sure that I would buy another one, seem to be luck of the draw and if you get a bad one you`ve got big troubles. I`ve got 4 Ruger revolvers and they are like the old Timex watches, they take a licking and keep on ticking. One of them is a Single Six convertable. It`s the 2nd. one I`ve had. I traded off the first one and missed it so much I went out and got another one.
