Ruger single six? who has one?
« on: June 13, 2004, 09:09:48 PM »
I am interested in buying a single six ruger with a 9 1/2" barrel in 22lr/22mag or the taurus tracker in 22 mag. What is the pros and cons of these two hand guns? Is one more accurate that the other? What do you think about one of these hand guns in a 17hmr? If you own one of these revolvers let me know what you like or dislike including accuracy. Thanks! :D

I have a stainless Siingle Six in 22LR only and it shoots about 1" groups at 25yds but then so does my 6.5" one as well.  I can't say about the Taurus.  The two cylinders with the Ruger would be more versatile.

I can't see an advantage in the Single Six in 17 HMR/HM2, though. The 17s are meant for long range shooting with a lighter bullet.  I don't think I'll be shooting at something far enough away with my Single Sixes that I couldn't hit it with a heavier 22LR/WMR bullet.  In a scoped Contender, it is a different story altogether.

I have a single six ruger and it is an excellent gun, I am not that good with it yet, but I lack pratice still...... I can however do OK.
It is undoubtably the best gun I have and I just bought a new Henry rifle ...the ruger was from about 1978 or so.
Good investment in my opinion, can't say anything about the Taurus.

Get a single-Six. They're great little revolvers, and you won't be sorry.

love my six inch Bisley .22(stainless grip frame & blue w/ scrolled cylinder and rosewood grips...................Beautiful!!!! I was told there were only 1200 of these made for the "Sports Authority" in the  mid/late 80's........????) Anyway, its got a way better feel than my standard old model SS, but either way its still a great gun.
