Bass Pro Shop
« on: June 14, 2004, 07:59:22 AM »
Went to the new Bass Pro Shop in Auburn yesterday. Its pretty big that for sure. Their gun prices seem to be pretty good, I think their ammo prices where a little high. Last fall I could get Remington 200 gr. Core Lokt 35 Rem. at Kmart for $10.99, Bass Pro wants $15.99. But for the most part their prices seem to be good! If your in the Central New York area I recommend that you check it out!

Its in the Fingerlakes Mall in Aurelius, N.Y. which is about a mile west of Auburn. Its right on Rt. 5 the main drag through Auburn.
If you take the "Thru Way" get off at "exit 40" Weedsport/Auburn (mile marker 304.1 hows that for precision?). Go south on Rt. 34 about 7 miles or so into the city of Auburn. Turn right on Rt. 5, you'll be heading west. Its just outside of Auburn on the right hand side, you won't miss it believe me!

I went yesterday, not bad but no pistols. I have been in others that at least had revolvers and .22s. I didn't check prices but I think I'd almost rather go to Galyans, I hope Dicks does not take Galyans pistols away. The Galyans in Rochester has been a little weird, only revolvers at first now they have a better selection, while the one in Buffalo always had a good selection and prices (bought my Glock 36 there)

I was talking to the sales associate in the hunting lodge at shoppingtown mall's Dick's.  He said that Dick's was going to try to get handguns again. He said they need to try to stay competitive with the new Gander Mountains that are going in as well as Bass Pro which is working on getting their handguns.
A bad day of hunting is better than a good day at the golf course.

I've heard that there is one of the "top 3" sporting goods stores opening in the Salmon Run Mall at Watertown, NY!

The store is said to be: Bass Pro, Gander Mountain or Cabela's!

Anybody else heard anything on this?

I sure hope they start selling handguns again!

New York Hunter, I have been to the Gander Mountain out in Rochester.  I have to say that I like it a lot more than the new Bass Pro Shop.  It is a big store with lots of great stuff in it.  You will like it.  Great variety of stuff in it.
