Hate to bust your bubble, but they hung a subspecies name on Utah's PD's, called them an endangered species and they are protected. Started with the Bryce Canyon population if I remember right (the ones all the tourists see) and it's extended to include the east side populations north to south in the state I believe. There are pockets of PD's from ID/WY on down to AZ in approximately the eastern half of the state, and at least on the west half out of Beaver and Cedar City that I know of. Wouldn't drop a cap on any without a for sure answer from the DWR though. I've been out of state for 6 years so don't know what's changed in the regs.
On a possitive note, you have some of the best RC shooting in the Rockies in Utah's Wasatch and Uinta ranges - bet there is even a good population right up behind your place NE of Highland.
Both ranges also hold a very large population of pot guts in the mountain valley's, pine squirrels in the timber and pika in the rock slides.
Yep, hunted almost every square mile of UT for many, many years and know it well. Actual spots? Know hundreds of them, but half your fun will be the exploring to find your own. Hint though for right in your backyard... ask around how to get to Forrest City (ghost town) off Am. Fork Canyon, up into Mineral Basin and on over into Heber. You'll need a 4X4, but the shooting for several species can be great.
