I have narrowed my choices down to 2 barrels in 12" version.  What are the pros and cons and what would be your choice between the Encore in 480 Ruger or 454 Casull.  These would be used out to 125 yards on deer, black bear and Elk.

A second part of the question would be...Can the 480 barrel fire the 475 Linebaugh?

I would go with the 454.Factory ammo can be found in near every good sporting good stores. Not to nock the 480 but you will have to handload for it as the 480 is harder to find.If you reload than there is no problem, just pick the one you like best :-) As for shooting the 475 in the 480 I'm not sure.

The .480 Ruger is to the .475 Linebaugh what the .38 Special is to the .357 Magnum.

So NO you can't shoot a .475 Linebaugh in a .480 Ruger just like you can't shoot a .357 Magnum in a .38 Special.

But I'd think the Encore strong enough to have it rechambered for the longer .475. I don't know that however.
