Ask yer 445 super mag feller if he has any Winchester 680 powder, that would make things go a little faster. Since that is what I mostly used. I gotta find my notes and I'm sure I let my buddy who bought the barrel have some of them. I really liked that powder for the 445SM. I have one load for AA1680, that is very good, for the 300GR bullet I believe it was, but I want to check it for sure, before I post it.
Just tell him that hit "kills" at both ends, and to keep the scope a minimum of seven feet from his noze cause ye gotta ride with the recoil and sometimes yer nose forgets to saddle up when you get excited and touch er off!! Actually, my buddy shoots hot! 44 loads that are more punishing than some of the 445 loads, I was hunting with. But it does need to be taken seriously. I have Arthritis in my wrist and just could not take the thump anymore so i sold it.
I used Starlite cases, Federal primers, Winchester 680 and AA 1680 powder. Some folk will argue that AA 1680 powder is a load for load replacement for W680. It may be in some other calabers but in the 445 SM, it is BS and can get someone hurt, if he switches powders back off and come up again. I tested a couple other primers and powder, but none come close to these two in my barrel.
The 445 SM is NOT a 'plinking' cartridge, and he should not try to 'load down' at all!!!!!! This is a major NO NO! It will cause what they call over burn of flash over, where the powder is laying expozed horazontally in the partially filled case and the ignition runs over the surgace to the front of the cartridge then ignites from the front to the back, blowing out the primer. That's what I was told and the load manuals stress not loading it down so I didn't try. Might as well just use a 44 mag in stead.
