Would an old lawn mower blade be a good blank to make a knife?

Don't see why not.  I've read of knifemakers using them.  Not sure what sort of steel mower blades are; assuming one of the 10xx series or maybe W1/W2.  Any of those make a good knife.

Wayne Goddard made his first knife out of a lawnmower blade.  Just as a reference for guys using scrounged materials for knife blades - here's a handy list of tools and their typical steel types that may come in handy.  It's not always accurate, but it's a very good list.
