cleaning rods and bore solvent???

Buckslayer;

I've just bought two Tipton carbon fiber cleaning rods about 2 weeks ago, and I really like them. The handle has bearings in it and its SMOOTH.  Plus with the carbon fiber no scratching.  :-)

As far as solvent goes I use Butch's Bore Shine, it has a little ammonia in it so it good at removing copper fouling.  :-)

Hope this helps.

Dennis.  :D

I use a Dewey one peice carbon fiber rod.  I tend to shy away from mulitple peice rods because dirt can become embedded in the joints and scratch your bore.

I use Butches Bore shine also.  It works really well on carbon fouling and copper fouling both.  As far as I know, nothing dissolves lead.  If you're shooting lead bullets you'll have to use elbow grease to remove it.  After I use Butches I follow up with Kroil to get all of the Butches out of the bore.  If I'm going to store the gun for a while, I punch the tube with Break Free CLP for rust preventative.
