QUSTION OF ALL QUESTIONS___WHAT DO YOU WANT????
« on: June 19, 2004, 07:36:21 AM »
Time to get some answers from our members, that way I can decide what to do.
Do you want this to be a trapping forum, first and foremost.?Or do you want things to be left as they were?
A couple days ago I started this forum in a differant direction. Is this what you want?
I grew tired of the amount of trapping input this site was getting.Or should I say the lack of trapping input.
Now is the time for you to state what you really want--Trapping or Jokesters.

Im all for Toms forum to be trapping.  Also im here to answer and read  answers to trapping questions to learn..... But correct me if im wrong, it does get a little quiet   here sometimes.  Possibly with Tom having the question of the day  ect will perk things up a bit.... one doesnt want to get cabin fever so come on  everyone  let his or her thoughts be know.

The last few days since Boggy said the way he would like the the forum to run, and started the question of the day, things have picked up with lots more posting.

The last 2 or 3 days is a good example of the way a forum should be . Good trapping posts but informal enough so that people aren't scared to post.

I think this forum is going full speed ahead in the right direction, and will only gain more speed with time operating with the new set of rules. I have been here every day at least once w/new system and will continue, before it was a week to two weeks only. I for one think this will be a great site if stays on this track.  Jeff

17 how about some questions or some trapping hints..... everyone  can give a few.   Remember  everyone doesnt know what you or i knowabout trapping.  Some arejust starting out and at times a person that has been trapping for awhile forgets   to mention some things that he takes for granted.

Joe,I have deleted very little on here--mostly I edited out language I thought didn't fit a family forum.
Any other deletions were of suject matter, I didn't think needed exposure on a public forum.
I never said we couldn't have fun on here.It had just gotten to the point where the majority of the posting was just fooling around.
Obviously ,the majority of the people viewing this, weren't impressed---they stayed away in droves.
I attend more conventions in one year, than most trappers do in 20 years.
It is part of my job--its what I do.But you can ask anyone on here that has visited me at a convention--I enjoy what I do --and consider it--a good time.

A theme may be just what a public forum needs,                         to focus everybodys attention on one subject.                                               A different subject every day.                                                                   This would focus out thoughts and empower the forum,                                 as long as the subject is my favorite ones, just kidding.

Seriously, What kind of animal... may be a bit too general.
What kind of traps...   may be as well too general.
If I saw a question like, "What kind of traps for coon?"
It would make me think...  Small coon, large coon, snares, percentages.
1's = front paw   1 1/2's hmmmm    2 L/S's ?????   What diameter snare wire????  This question is a bit obvious but my point ...  specific questions!!!

On coon week one question could deal with lure, another bait, another Hounds, every aspect of each subject could be gone over in detail.

What kind of trap would you use for the ultimate animal, the Yote???
Bait, snare wire size, ways to market Coyote skulls, Stories: like the story of old sport...or...the devil coon of frozen muddy hole. Tanning and selling hides on e-bay, one is motivated to further ones knowledge of a given subject by in depth knowledge of that subject. As it becomes boring not to go on from there.
