I just picked up an old deer stalker 44 carbine. Would like to hear any feadback from anyone who has one of these on good factory loads to try. I will be using on whitetail deer. Prefer heaviest bullet that will shoot accurately. Thanks.

Mine likes the 250 gr Winchester Gold Partitions. They are very accurate in my gun. My gunsmith recently took it to the range to fix a feed problem and was so struck by the accuracy, he used it on silhouette rams at 200 yds with succcess.  It is also a good pentrator and 'stopper'.

Good luck,

I'll try the partition golds out. I also want to try the speer 270gr sp and the Hornady 300gr xtp.

Ifin your doing any hand loading try the hornady 265gr jsp on top of 21 grs of 2400 with a cci mag primer(start 10 percent lower and work up), used this load while stationed in hawaii and killed several deer at liane(sp) and one lg hog on ohau, using the old deer stalker.

Gunrunner,

What kind of muzzle velocity were you getting with that load?

Your gun may shoot way different but I like the Remington 275gr CORE-LOKT JHP myself, as far as factory loads go. Pick up a box of everything and try them all at 100yrds or so.
