Rossi Puma M-92 quality?
« on: June 19, 2004, 06:34:30 PM »
I was wondering how many of you out there have any experience with these rifles, and if you think they are a good buy or not.  I've looked at them a few times, and thought they looked pretty decent, and seem to cycle smoothly.  I am interested in the 24" octogonal barrel version in .357 mag.  I would like to hear any comments you folks might have whether positive or negative.  Thanks!

Bluestem,
I have the rossi 92 in 44-40 and i love it. the action is slick, I have not found any buggers with mine. As far as strenth goes i think it is as strong as any 92s out there. You should enjoy your 92 as much as I do mine.
Good luck and stay safe................Joe............................................

I looked at one on gunbroker today and was wondering how good they are myself. But that's not why I posted this....I thought about buying the one I looked at but didn't know if it was priced to high or it was a good deal. It's a Puma M92 454 Casull with a 20in. round barrel with a blue finish. The price was $350 is this too much or a deal?

I shoot a Rossi 92 carbine in 357 mag for Cowboy Rifle Silhouette compitition.  I don't shoot heavy loads because of target damage.  I do shoot very light loads at very low volicities.  These are most times the hardest to get to shoot accurate.  I get 2 minute groups at 100 meters with a receiver sight. The carbine shot good enough to get me into the 4 way shootoff for the Idaho State Championship.

I have looked at the 24 inch octogon barrel rifle with the color case hardning and I would really like to have one but my carbine shoots so good I just can't bring myself to switch.  When I got mine I couldn't find a local dealer with one of the rifles so I setteled for the carbine and I like it.  It was a good choice but I do like the rifles.
You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.

Why are they not on the Rossi website. They only show the single shots. POW

I have had two Puma's one 16" and one 20".  I wasn't empressed by either one.  The 20" shot good but I had to almost beat the lever closed every time I chanbered a round.  The 16" had a smooth action but wouldn't hold 5 rounds on a pie plate at 25 yards from a bench rest.  I probaly just got unlucky one these rifles.  I know people who have them and love them.

I got one of the early little 16 " barreled carbines...Fun to shoot...does not like any flat nosed bullets or any Keith style bullets with a shoulder on them but round nose lead or jacketed shoot great.....mine likes 38 specials too.

I have an old, pre safety model, in .357 mag and a new .454.
I find them an excellent value, good solid guns and accurate.
Buy one, you won't be sorry
