These bullets are pretty accurate in my 5 1/2" SBH. I am loading them over 2400 but want to try Win296 to see if I can improve accuracy and long range velocity. I have searched high and low for data for the 310gr. and 296 with no luck. Can some of you guys steer me in the right direction? Out of my 3 manuals and manuf. handouts only Lee has this bullet with Alliant powder. Thanx in advance, Larry

In those three manual's, check the starting loads for 300gr jacketed bullets.

Lloyd, I am calling 100 yds. max. I am going to use this bullet for whitetail and want to be confident that it will hit hard enough at 90-100 yds. in case I have a good shot out there. Ideally 50-75, the 2400 will work in that range. I recently started putting gas-checks on them and wanted to try them faster than the published 1150fps. for2400.
myronman3, Thanks but I,d have to buy some h110.

Larry, H110 and 296 are the same powder sold by WW and Hogdgen under different titles. I'd treat them as the same but with different lot numbers so reduce the starting loads accordingly. There are other powders out there like this sold by different companies but made by the same manufacturer that have basically the same loading data. Winchester and Hogdgen evidently have an agreement to sell each other's powders under different names. H414 and WW748 are the same if I remember correctly (someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong) and WW231 has a clone but I can't rightly remember right now which one it is so I won't say for safety's sake. I guess what I'm saying is this.......... if you have 296 then you have H110 also.

Hodgdon is NOT actually a manufacturer of the powders they sell. They buy from those who do manufacture them, test and package them to sell. In the case of the powders which are the same as the Winchester powders they are manufactured by Primex a subsidary company of Winchester Olin. Primex also sells the powders to Hodgdon and they market the exact same powders as does Winchester in these cases but under different names. Yes I believe you're correct as best as I recall on the same but different named powders. Best as I recall it is Winchester 296, 231 and 760 tho rather than 748 but I might be wrong.

H 414 = WW 760
H 335 = WW 748
