EMF Hartford 32-20
« on: June 20, 2004, 03:57:09 PM »
Hi Guy's I was piddling around the gunshow Saturday and got myself into a trade for a EMF Hartford model in 32-20. I thought that was pretty cool ! But when I got to the car and cut the strap on the trigger I knew something was wrong. This is the smoothest EMF I have ever seen. So on the way home I lifted the starofoam out of the box and found an invoice dated May 95 for $265 I thought that was what the gun cost maybe, but when I got home and really looked at the invoice it was from Oglesby & Oglesby Gunmakers Inc. That was for the action job That they called the Shootist package. If any of you know about this company or this package let me know . I would like to learn all I can about them. You can e-mail me at jimsocks79@yahoo.com.                     Thanks A Heap

That firm is one of the  premier gunmaker/gunsmithing outfits in the world today. I have no personal knowledege of them but have read numerous articles and net posts about thier firearms. They advertize in the Cowboy Chronicle (SASS publication) on occassion and have been know to support CAS by sponsering matches.

BTW, regarding the price and the reciept: The cost of an action job is not going to increase the price of 99% of the guns out there. Paying for an action job, regardless of who did it, is the owners personal investment in his gun, it rarely adds to resale value because the next owner often has different values concerning what he/she wants in an action job. So often a pard can pick up a real nice gun for less than original price in spite of a "Big Name Action Job".

At least you know the name of the outfit and can track them down to get another...I've got a 75 Remmie that was tuned by someone who was a true artist! Unfortunately I have no way of finding out who did it, the guy I bought the gun from died before he had a chance to search his records for me.

:D  Hi Crooked , This 6 shooter is in like new 100% condition. I did call Oglesby & Ogelsby about the Shootist package and he gave me a very extensive list of what it consist of. As far as adding value I know that it would be very hard to add the now $305 price to the gun but for what I picked it up for I may never trade it off anyhow.I am very bad about tradiing off my guns. But that is the main reason I like them because I like to go to the show and to my buddies houses and trade. I guess if I found something that I wanted I would trade it off But for now it is definatly a keeper .LOL                                  Thanks for the Info
