file the notch on the pan where it fits on the jaw till ya get the pan tension to where ya want it
 but ya got a watch it don't take much to make a finger killer out of a monty

Filing the notch too deep will also create pan creep. There's real fine line at where it works best but once you get one you got them all fast.
