Who Has the Most Reasonably Priced Barrels??????
« on: June 21, 2004, 07:28:04 AM »
Who Has the Most Reasonably Priced Barrels for 1911's?  Also, I had asked this question in an earlier post but never recieved a reply.  Were there really green colored 1911's in service during WWII?  SA offers the GI 1911 in a green color and I was just wondering if this was an authentic colored gun.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!

Brownell's has the best selection of barrels. As for cost, they are very competitive with brand name barrels. There are "generic" barrels that can be had for as little as $40 new from other sources.

No, there weren't any green guns in service during WWII. GI reworked Parkerized guns did take on a bit of a green hue in the non-reflecting flat black finish.

It depends partially on whether the barrel needs to be fitted, as opposed to just dropping it in.  Drop in barrels are priced differently than those that require fitting.
