A Benjamin/Sheridan pump will do you a fine job.

jbtazgrabber,

While a Benjamin/Sheridan pump will work, I don't believe they are the rifle they once were.  The new ones have a trigger is lousy at best and their power level isn’t what it used to be.  I believe you would be better off with a springer type rifle.  I got to ask, what was it about your Win. 1000X that made it as you said “wasnt all it could be”?  My daughter has busted plenty with hers.  I don’t like the .177 caliber for hunting is my complaint.  Lawdog

when i bought it i picked the one with best trigger pull it was over 8 lb and this was best of 3 guns   i got it home cleanded it and shot about 25 times to get sighted in . i  put in closet about 2 weeks later it was rusted preety bad but none of the others in closet was not ,even my black powder i had shot the same day...i had a cheapie springer that was shooting as hard as the win.. i sold both  before i could chrony them..i didnt like the sights picture much but i am getting older and my groups are also increasing with age.i think the rear sight needs to be back farther..

I recommend a RWS demop rifle from airgun express just go to airgunexpress.com and them go to the page that says RWS demo rifles and pick out the one you can afford. If you want to see what a partivular rifle looks like go back to the main menue and click on RWS rifles from there it will show you pictures of what each model RWS rifle looks like. find one you like and go back to the demo page and see if its avaiable most demos are avaiable only in 177 but occosionally you will find them in 22 caliber if you want any of the demo guns avaiable call the 800 number and order it right away. There may be a few handling marks on the guns but for the most part they are like new and the RWs comes with a lifetime warrenty.

Actually it is a Limited Lifetime Warrantee.  I am not knocking RWS as many of their air rifles are very good but watch which models you may choose.  The reason for this warning is that RWS, like Beeman, does not manufacture any air guns they import them.  Some of the RWS models are manufactured in Germany by Diana Manufacturing, some in Spain by Cometa Manufacturing and some in China.  All depends on the model.  Lawdog

AoA right now has a clean used m48 for $249, compared with AE's "demo" at $222.

one is better than the other? the AEdamo at $222 is priced cheaper that the used one at $247 So what is your point? Its the same gun and the AE does come with thr RWS warrenty wheras the used one probably dont. Any of the RWS guns made any where are better than the other guns made in the same country. I would rather buy a chinese RWS than just the same chinese at another place at lease the RWS rifle come with a warrenty which most chinese gune do not.

No point to make, just FYI. Probably didn't need to interject it at all. That B21 clone sure does seem like a heckuva deal at $125-$125.
