QUESTION OF THE DAY-6/24-FAVORITE SET
«

We all have favorite sets for each species of animal that we trap.
WHAT IS YOURS???
Mine runs like this.
#1 Beaver, castor mound set.I can make this set wherever I want. This set also takes several otter every year. This set is money in the bank, for me.
#2Muskrat,I punch an indentation at the water line on rat houses,4 traps may be set at each house.Rats, coon and mink--all key in on the indentations.
#3 Coon and mink--a pocket set at waters edge is my preferred set here.
A slidewire is used to deep 6 them.
Your turn.

Rats = 110 in a run, or at a den entrance
For mink I like a blind setting
beaver I like a channel set
Otter I like a coni in the spillway of a crossover
Coon I like a coni trail set, or big greasy pocket set.
For canines I don't really have a favorite, but lean towards a dirt hole.
Ermine I like to use boxes and a snap trap.

Coyote, bobcat and fox dirt trapping...Big Visible Dirt Hole Sets
Coyote, bobcat and fox deep snow trapping...Big Visible Scent Post Sets
Mink....A variety of sets to fit the situation at hand but lured pocket sets are always effective for me.
Weasel....box sets place where weasel tracks are observed. Weasels will almost always return using the same route.

My hands down favorite for coyotes is a urine post set with gland lure and urine.I'm going to use this a lot more this fall than I have in the past.

I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!
