Hi,

Have any of you used Remington bullets? I am looking at trying some of the 45/70 .458 300 gr and the .357 158 gr HP's. The price looks right but looking to see how they compare with other bullets performance. I have used Hornady's almost exclusively so far in all my calibers.

By the way I had told you guys about my son going into the Navy. We saw him off yesterday. We were told that he would be able to call us and let us know that he made it OK.

My wife got the call last night:
He said "I got here ok. I gotta go. Bye."

I can't wait to here who was standing next to him. :grin:

Nothing wrong with Remington bullets. They are as good as any other non premium bullets. They may or may not do well in your particular rifle, same as any other bullet. Cheap as they are, they are well worth a try.

In the two calibers you mention, you will hardly be looking for the finest possible target accuracy, so they should do you fine. Something else might or might not shave a quarter inch off your hundred yard groups groups, but that's true of almost any bullet.

Nothing wrong with trying different bullets...I try different ones all the time for my rifles...that's the fun of reloading... I like to go to different gun shops and see what they have on the clearance shelf,sometimes you can find some awsome deals on some of the really pricey bullets you would normally pass by....Remingtons bullets are generally priced cheaper...and lots of folks have gotten very good results with them.Don't be afraid to give them a try and see how the do for you.You might find the perfect load for your guns......

I have used the 158 HP in Maxie also Hand guns, fair acc.
nothing write home about, I am going to get the 300 gr. for
my 45-70. see how they do!

i use remington 300's in my handie 45-70 ahead of 45 gr. of h-4198. i get 1.5 inch groups @ 100 yds. for a more comfortable load try 34 gr. of imr 3031. enjoy!

Shoot the Remington 300 grainers in my Encore (can I say Encore here?) 450 Marlin and they shoot great.

I use several Rem bullets and get acceptable accuracy out of them. I like the 125 gr Golden Saber in a .38 Special case at about 1395 fps out of a 6" barrel. I can get 1477 fps with it, but like the reduced load better. The same gun, bullet and powder will clock 1627 fps using a .357 case.

This is a 3 shot 50yd group from my BC with Rem 300 JHP in hand loads.
