Adams & Bennett barrels
« on: January 12, 2003, 01:15:15 PM »
Hi all,

Anyone have any experience with these barrels? My Dad bought a 22-250 bull barrel, put it on a Mauser action and fitted it to a laminated stock.  We shot it tonight and the very first group with Win factory ammo was 7/8" at 100 yards.  It would appear this rifle will be a shooter with some load development and breakin.  I also recently came into possession of an Adams and Bennett in 06.  I was thinking of getting rid of it but may now put it on a Mauser action.  Any thoughts on these barrels?

I also put this thread on the gunsmithing forum.

Never heard of them.  But if you get 7/8" groups with them I think that's pretty damned good.  With results like that, why do you have to ask what any body else thinks?  Would you get rid of the rifle if someone said that 7/8"  groups were not good enough?

I used two of them so far. One is a 223 Ackley and the other is a 280 Ackley. Both are shooting well under 3/4" with handloads. Excellent barrels for the money. And since Midway stocks them, there is no waiting.
