I need a shooting rest to test my reloads.  Should I get sand bags or some other type of rest.  Also what do you guys use.

......For just fun shooting and testing with a good solid rest-I use a eared front sand bag and a bunny ear rear bag........then I use home made flat sand bags to get the height I need for comfortable cheek weld and view thru the scope........then you have to learn to be consistant in your placement of the gun on/in the bags and where the gun likes to sit in the bags.....watch for checkering hanging in the bags and stock sling swivels hitting the bags.....then find out how the gun wants to get held......firm aganist the shoulder,no hand at the grip....firm hand at grip or even free recoil for the lighter kickers.........a good solid table/bench or good old earth in a prone position helps.........a good steel rest with windage, elevation and position stop with good rest bag is fantastic but expensive for a good one and overkill for just testing....imo.....Bald Eagle and others make good bags and many stock the bags and get good clean sand locally......wash and dry it before using to avoid mold and strain it for lumps and rocks.....hth..good luck and good shooting!!

Look at the "Dog Gone Good" shooting bags on the internet.  I really like mine.  I also have a Hart adjustable shooting rest.  The only thing I dont like about it is that the front bag I have for it does not hold the rifle as steady as I would like.  But otherwise the rest itself is great in all aspects.

My son bought me a Uncle Bud's bullbag rest for Christmas. It's great! They're steady and seem user friendly. My son was impressed with mine so he bought one.
