here are a couple pictures of hogs  that  i  have killed with  my Marlin 30-30 AW  has  a  cheap 29.00 tasco scope 3-9X40 and  i only use remington factory 7.96 ammunition from wal-mart  the  Aw   is actually  a  gun  made  for  wal-mart  for  those  who  are not  aware  of  that  model http://www.hunt101.com/img/187283jpg

Howie from what distance did you shoot this one and on smaller pigs, do you recover the bullet usually or get full penetration ?

this boar was over 200 lbs  and  no  the  bullet  did  not penetrate  i  shot  him  slightly angling towards  me  from around 35 yards almost exited  his  offside ribs.  in gerneral  i  have never had  a 30-30 exit a pig  but  it  kills  them  dead,  i  shoot  for  the  shoulder  and  it  always  gets intop the vitals

I've been using my Marlin 336W 30-30 on hogs lately with Winchester 170gr SuperX PP to great effect. Except on small hogs (under 50lbs) I've always recovered the bullet.

Sure is fun busting them up with a lever action :D
