I just wanted to share this story. The other day my boss brought in 22. and asked me to look at it. He said it just wouldn't shoot any more. I had to admit to him that I hadn't seen one before, and didn't know what it was. As it was given to him by a farmer,as payment for trapping gophers, back in the late 50's. It is, as he received it, cracked butt stock,(taped together). The receiver/ barrel screw, was missing, and also wired and taped together. Which in turn covered any and all identification marks. Well, I told I would take it home, and see what I could do. It turned out to be mostly dirt, and the hammer spring was weak. now it fires fine. But the big surprise came, when I removed all the tape and wire. It revealed its true identity, a Remington Improved Model 6 rolling block. Wish it was MINE!!!! It won't take much to fix the crack in the stock. And I found a barrel screw, that looks real close to pictures I found. After some minor rust removal, it should make 50-60% of mint, maybe better, I'm not much on appraisals. Wish it was MINE!! O.
