It's a Shooter!

Got the new .17 HMR out to the range for a few minutes today - only had time to zero the scopes on it and the .223.

Managed to put 6 out of 8 into the 10 ring of a 6" shoot and see, at 100 yards. That was the Reminton ammo, got Federal, CCI and Hornady to try still ...

Trigger pull was excellent, much better than the Ultra.

Guess the Ultra can go back for a trigger job and a couple new barrels.

Glad to hear your new 17 is performing well. Should get even get better as the barrel gets broken in. :D  :D Keep us posted about the results with the other brands of ammo.

Try all the ammo you can :)  I have 4 brands available here locally, and have shot them all.  My Sportster seems to really like the Federal Premium V-Shok.  Other brands rarely group MOA and the Federal is consistently under MOA, ½ MOA if I remember to breath :)

These are great little guns!  Nothing like having the guy with the $400 CZ bolt gun scratching his head and wondering why my groups are tighter then his at the same range!!!
Him: "So, how much tweaking money did you put into that single shot?"
Me: "Tweaking?  I tweaked it...took it out of the box, cleaned it and put a scope on it..."
Him:
Me:

I got the rifle for $175, have another $100 in the scope and rings ...

The guy in the next lane at the range was shooting a cubic dollar .22LR at 66 yards and not getting anywhere with his groups ... He was quite impressed with my 100 yard target, even more so when I told him the gun just came out of the box, and I didn't even boresight the scope before I got to the range ... Gotta love it!

Had another guy come down the line to check it out - he said he had .17 in another brand (I don't remember which), hadn't had much luck shooting it yet ...

I should be able to get out some time this weekend for more fun!
