Just got home with a Marlin 336C today! It has some of the prettiest burled walnut I have ever seen on a Marlin. It has an Ashley Outdoors front sight, but the factory rear sight is still there.

The neat thing is, the barrel is 18 inches long. It looks like someone had it cut down and recrowned, with the new sight installed.

Go ahead, tell me how lucky I am!

Ok, I'll say it. Your lucky. I also like the 18 1/2" models. At a gun show a while back I found a Marlin 30 TK which is the 336 made for KMart a few years ago. It has the 2/3 length magazine tube and 18 1/2" tube and straight pistol grip stock (all of my Marlins have straight stocks). The only drawback is it is chambered in .30-30 but I do have a .35 Rem 336. I just like .35 calibers period. :D

You're going to love it!  My 18" bbl just thumps whatever those big 200 gr bullets hit!  Enjoy.  44 Man

I found a 336C at a pawn shop this spring, wasn't too excited about it but it looked like it needed a home.  Started shooting it, liked it better.  Youngest son fell in love with it, all 70 pounds of him.  Recoil?  He seems to like it, but I worked up a lighter load for him with a 158 grain bullet.  Didn't expect much in the way of accuracy.  The silly thing apparently never heard that leverguns aren't accurate, it put five shots into one hole with the pistol bullets at 50 yards.  With the 200 grain Rem Factory load, it will shoot into 1.25" at 100 yards as long as I want to sit there and pull the trigger.  Never felt the need to hunt deer before, but we're going this year!

Strange what the right rifle will convince a fellla to do!

BTW, the wood on mine is absolutely gorgeous.  The man that pawned this gun was either a fool, or blind, or BOTH!
