I really enjoyed your story Paul.. I think you have the Encore disease. It is running rampant in my area and so far I have found no cure.    Periodic treatments of buying another barrel or stock may help.   Or if the little wife thinks we are over budget on the barrel buying,  just swapping the barrels and stocks for the next hunting/shooting trip can lessen the severity.  So far I have heard of no fatalities from this malady but you can never be too careful.
Here's wishing you a full recovery.

Good story Paul.  The disease is a funny one, it bits into you slowly but never lets go.  I think the disease is mostly "Single-Shot" more than "T/C", of course the "T/C" system is the best.  I have the same problem with the H&R rifles.  But my favorite is a T/C .40 cal Hawken.

Please post any more stories that you may write.  Thanks.

I heard the same comments from folks here in the Low Country. Single shot? But my encore and Ruger #1 accounted for a freezer full of venision last season.

This last season was the first I used the Encore. It has really grown on me. I find it is a rifle I have confidence in and I don't think that can be understated.
