if you could have 5 single shots....
« on: June 29, 2004, 09:29:27 AM »
if you could have any 5 single shots what would they be???
heres the rules
1)it can be ANY single shot. old, new,ANY.
2)if its a interchangeable barrel system(t/c,NEF/h&r.....)you can have 2 barrels per frame.
3)it can have any scope/sight you want.
heres mine. i already have 3 of the five i want. :-D
1)NEF .410 26" barrel, full choke 3"chamber. its my favorite because it was my first gun :)  :) i have a huntsman .50 cal muzzle loader barrel for it with a tasco world class 3-9x40 soon to be replaced with a bushnell 3-9x40 trophy
2)i also have this gun,it was my 2nd gun. NEF .12 ga 28"barrel mod choke,3"chamber. i have a H&R ultra slug hunter 20 .ga barrel for it. its fully rifled,24"barrel(1-28"twist) topped with a trophy 3-9x40 (going on the huntsman) to be replaced with a bushnell legend 3-9x40.
3)the last single shot i have.its a NEF .280 rem 26"barrel,1-10"twist,synthetic monte-carlo stock,topped with a simmons 3-10x44 .44 mag scope. i don't have a barrel for but i would get a .243 win 24"barrel with a bushnell 4200 elite 2.5-10x42.
4) a T/C encore in .300 mag topped with a bushnell 4200 elite 3-10x50. i would get a .260 rem barrel for it with the same scope.
5)T/C encore 22-250 rem topped with a loupold 6.5-20 vx.iii
these are my choices, what are yours???
later :D buckslayer
I've got to many but never enough!!!!

Well I would hate to have to sell the rest, and narrow down to five, but here goes.
#1-Ballard #6 Schuetzen, in .32-40, with factory engraving, dst, 30" half octagon barrel. #10 checkering, extra grade wood with schuetzen buttplate.
#2-Ballard #7a Extra Long Range, .45-100 Ballard Everlasting, 30" half octagon, factory engraved, tang and Creedmore long range sights, extra grade wood, with Ballard shotgun hard rubber buttplate.
#3-Stevens #47,(on the 44 1/2 frame) factory engraved, with 30" half octagon .25-21 Stevens barrel, and matching .32-40 barrel, dst, checkered schuetzen stocks, palm rest, and Pope lever. (have one, but sans engraving)
#4 Stevens Pope, factory standard as made during Pope's tenure with Stevens, including two Pope made barrels in .33-40, and .28-30 calibers, with Stevens scope and midrange sights. (have one, but in .25-21 Stevens)
#5 Remington Walker long range rifle, in full octagon heavy 32" barrel, caliber .45-70, all the factory options available at the time, sst, engraving, long range sights, etc....

Might as well dream really big, if I'm only dreaming!
Ballard, the great American Rifles!

1. Remington Rolling Block in 45/70 ( have one)
2. 308 Encore pistol (have one.)
3. 16.5 inch  308 rifle barrel for the  Encore with a shoulder stock and forarm to make a short carbine in 308. Will have on when I can afford it.
4. a other pistol barrel for the Encore but I do not know what caliber I would want?
5. same as 4. only a other short rifle barrel maybe 45/70 so I could have a lighter 45/70. :)

The Remington I like so much I really would not need a other single shot like it as a sharps ect Ballard ect.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

If my T/C Hawken counts as one, then I'm only allowed one more, and I think I'd like a Browning  1885 in .25-06.

Updated...... I ended up with a Ruger #1B in 7mm Rem Mag. So I guess my list is filled.....

I would have to have a Sharps, a Ballard, a Stevens 44 1/2 (have one in .22lr), a Remington roller, a Winchester 1885 (have one in .17 HMR) and I would have to have a TC Encore with a lot of barrels.

Oh that would be six.... I guess that I will have to work some overtime!

3.  Martini 12/15
4.  Martini Cadet in .22K-Hornet
5.  Stevens Favorite full octagon barrel

I am rather cheap. I would go with H&R?NEF and Rossi  in 20ga, 22, 223, 30-30 and 45-70. I love "fine" guns and have a few. But I usually find myself using these workhorse guns a lot more.

1. I have to have my Ruger No 1B in 7mm Rem Mag. It’s a killer. I can’t even start to count the scopes it’s made for me over the years.

2. I need the Ruger No 1V in 220 Swift. Although it hasn’t shoot much more than targets over the last 8 years, it’s pretty deadly.

3. I would keep the TC Encore with the 22” custom barrel in 17 Remington. It’s a nice rifle.

4. I’m going to buy a Ruger No 1B in 25-06 soon to replace the poor quality TC barrel I have for the Encore.

5. I want a Sharps in 40-65 or 45-70 (Not one of those Italian jobs, but one that has deep rifling and twists to handle lead bullets). It well be my little toy. I love to play around with loading and experimenting.
