Is there any correlation between track size and pig size?  Can you tell approximately how big a pig will be by its print?

Obviosly, the larger the print, the larger the pig.  But, can you tell that a pig will be over 300 lbs by the size of the print shown?

I think it would be interesting to gather data over time and make some kind of correlation.  You could measure the hoof (do pigs have hoofs?) of the pigs that you kill and weigh them as well (this assumes you would have a way to accurately weigh them).  Then, as you track pigs in the wild you may eventually begin to tell how large or how much a pig could weigh by the print size.

Maybe this is just the scientist in me getting to analytical.  Or is it anal?

Matt

No it is not anal  at  all  and  to  be honest track size  does  have  some correlation  to body weight as quated  before  i  have  killed  countless numbers of pigs  I always examine the wounds  entrance  and  exit  if any  onkly  2  guns  to exit  a  pig  so  far  375 H&H  and 45-70  i study teeth  and  hooves   pigs  of  this  size  are  over 300  lbs  and  i  have  taken measurements  and  that  is  what  i  come up  with  id  be  afraid  to  say  what  i  think  this  pig  weighs  as  it  may  start  a  little  controversy   alls  i  can  say  he  is  visiting  my  feeder   and  i am  fixing  to  start  seriously hunting him   i  put  extra  basit  out  for  him  and  he  took  the  bait  last night   i am  waiting  until friday  ill  re-bait  in  the  morning  then  ill  stay  out  of  there  until  i  hunt.  also feral hogs  have  an  extra  tooth  that   russian boars  do  not  i can  even  look  at  a  pigs  teeth  and  tell  you  what  age  they are   that  pic  of  the  big boar  i  shot  was 7  years  old and  well  over  300 lbs if  you  ever  shoot  one  when  you  come  hunt  with  me  i  will  show  you  these  things
