75T Trigger ... Loose tooth ?
« on: July 01, 2004, 06:35:23 PM »
I would like to know if other 75T triggers have lateral movement ? It does not seem to effect the shooting capability. It is almost like a loose tooth, once you notice it, it is hard to ignore. I had a Savage rimfire that was about the same.  The reference information, based on serial number indicates manufactured in 1950. I have noticed 54 stamped on barrel, is that a date mark ?

I decided to take my rifle to local gunsmith. He made shim for each side of trigger. He thought it might have been because of the finish work during manufacture; because the rest of the rifle showed so little wear. It is just like a new rifle now and not very expensive. I also had him clean, polish and check springs.

I also picked up another bit of interesting information. The gunsmith noticed I had the front/band screw down tight (I thought it was only there to hold the barrel on). He said he set it about midway and I might want to use it to fine tune the rifle, by adding or relieving pressure on the barrel. Well, it shot so well with trigger shims and the pressure he set; I left everything as it was set. I was shooting 50 yards, with peep sight...getting quarter size and smaller groups...(PMC ScoreMaster) ... I'm well pleased. :-D
