C130E,

I got one of the Winchester 1000X rifles for my daughter to replace the POS Gamo(please don’t get me started on Gamo products) she bought but the one I got was made in Turkey.  Daisy had a falling out with that company and switched to the one in Brazil.  The Turkey made rifles was a good one once you got the trigger smoothed out and reduced the pull.  I know nothing first hand about the one made in Brazil but have heard many complains about these newer Winchester air rifles.  I know this that if I buy another air rifle to replace the Winchester she has now it will be with a Tech Force from Compasseco, Inc..  The reason is although the Winchester she has now is good I have no idea what we are going to do if a problem should arise.  I understand Daisy isn’t going to back the Turkey made models.  Lawdog

Hi Lawdog-just where are Daisy going with these rifles?? They seem to have the power, punch etc. but there seems to be a little diffcuilty with consistency in build and quality. I believe the newer versions are of better quality and build but I would like to see some feedback on this topic. The Winchester 1000x was the first one I owned and initially I found it pretty good but from my own stand point it failed dismally in a number of ways- not least the trigger, spring etc. -it's all been done to death in various forums!  If Daisy have lifted there act and revamped the rifle to something a serious shooter would want to acquire then my interest might be rekindled.

I have no idea.  The Turkish Winchester 1000X was a good rifle for the dollar($74.99 when I got the daughter’s) once you got by the trigger, which wasn’t that hard to cure(my daughter’s is now 3 lbs. after a little honing).  She has never had any problem with the spring and never has the three other people that bought one after I got my daughter hers.  My daughter has well over 3,000 pellets through her 1000X.  I too wish Daisy would do it right and BUILD a good quality air rifle instead of trying to copy Beeman and import everything.  I have seen some of the new Daisy BB guns and they are not what they used to be just a few short years ago.  If Daisy doesn’t get busy and catch up with other companies they may not be around that much longer(you can only operate so long on a name till even your staunchest supporters walk away from you) and that would be a crying shame for an American icon.  Lawdog

How did you adjust the trigger on the 1000? I have one that is stamped Daisey Powerline 1000 made in Turkey. The trigger is simply awful :(

FOsteology,

I don't know if the triggers are the same but I dissembled the trigger and smoothed everything with different hones.  I didn't try to remove any more metal than necessary just to make it smooth.  If you don't feel comfortable doing this work a gunsmith should do it fairly cheaply, I have heard of some doing it for as little as $20.00.  Lawdog

Thanks. Guess I'll ask the gunsmith at my rifle range as I'd probably mess it up :)
