OK, it's not the Heat, it's the Humidity
« on: July 03, 2004, 11:50:34 AM »
Just got back from our "Shoot in the Texas Summer after it has been Raining all the month of June and the Mosquitoes are as Big as Buffalos Match."

Temperture was only in low 90's but the humidity was right up there, too.  The air was so thick with water vapor that it slowed the bullets down on their way to the targets.  For a stage that usually takes 45 seconds it was taking 2 minutes because of the "thick air."

Summer in The Republic can be "interesting."  And I'm all ready to go back for the Sunday match...

Gentlemen

When you can see the path of your bullet through the humidity, then you guys got something about which to complain!   Ain't nobody mentioned seeing that, though.

I've seen that with a 30-30 in Virginia when it's humid with a vengance!

This here Gulf Coast is bad enough to put a feller inside fer tha best part of tha year--I am sure it is jest as bad in other parts-- but I would rather sweat than freeze. On that issue I am looking for a warmer place. I like the heat and will put up with 75%+ humidity fore I put up with snow, sleet or freezing anytime.
You boys that can handle it have my blessings and respect---I can't.

I ain't comin' to shoot in the Conroe, Houston or Galveston area if you guys are wearin dresses!!!

By the way, speaking of mosquitos - we have 'em so big up here that they have trouble getting airborne.  It's really pathetic when you see the little critters bouncing along the ground.......a .12 gauge is the only humane way.

:cb2: I'll take the cold weather over the heat anytime. You can always put on more clothes, but when you get as old, fat, and ugly as I am, there's a limit to how much you can take off! I'm afraid if I took my shirt off I'd get harpooned. At the very least I'd be fined by the EPA. There are just some things that shouldn't be seen by mortal man.
