Rear sight for Sharps
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:53:20 PM »
:-) I have a Pedersoli heavy target model Sharps in 45-120. I didn't like the tang sight that came with it so I made a new one. Now I am looking for plans/drawings and or castings for a barrel mounted rear sight that is as close to original as is practical. I enjoy shooting my big Sharps and love the WoW factor. I am currently using bell brass with 105g 2fg Goex but prefer 1fg, hard to get here. I also have 20 rounds from Rocky Mountain Cartridge. He makes them a few thou oversize for the Pedersoli.

EWilliam,
Check out Jeffs Outfitters at jeffsoutfitters.com. He has a Sharps repro rear sight that is a very good copy of an original for about $75. It'll give you a good idea of what they looked like if you want to try to make your own.  You might also get one from Shiloh, don't know what they would charge.  Dixie Gun Works probably has one also.  What was the problem with the tang sight that caused you to replace it?  I might be interested if you don't want it.
