I'm thinking about getting a Bushnell elite 4200 2.5-10x 40mm Fire fly for my 300 WSM for elk this year.

Anyone had any experience with the fire fly yet?

I have not used one under hunting situations, but have looked thru several. They are nice and really work, the only thing that I did not like is that the center portion of the reticle does not glow, just the outer post. Under extreme low light and the outer post are glowing, it makes it hard to see the center crosshair. But it has to be very dark before this happens.

I bought that exact same scope from Jon at the optic zone, and I have used it hunting.

What a great scope! You just stick a flashlight in the front of the scope for about 2 minutes or so, and it glows for about 20 to 30 minutes!

It's very helpful in low light conditions. However, during the day, the cross-hairs seem too thick for my taste.

Does the intensity of the flashlight have an affect on the brightness result?
