I am thinking of getting a Traditions Buckhunter for deer hunting this fall. Has anyone had any hunting experiences with this model? I would be going with the 50 cal. nickel version

shotgunpete:

I bought one a couple of years ago from Bass Pro.  Returned it the next day.  The fit and finish of the pistol was rough as a cob...I expected much better.  I've heard that the Buckhunter Pro's are very accurate so if aesthetics aren't important to you...go for it.

Anyway, I bought a .54 TC Scout on Auctionarms shortly after I returned the Buckhunter...HUGE difference.  The Scout is a nicely finished, is very accurate and performs flawlessly...and I've put a LOT of balls downrange.  Only problem is they aren't made anymore so if you're interested, you'll have to find one used.  Mine was as close to NIB as you can find for $250.

My two cents.
