Opinions wanted on the best BKL setup (risers,Rings,etc.) for Finnfire with Leupold 1" tube X 40mm obj.

I use the 4 screw rings on my finnfire and they are a very solid set-up that is plenty high. I also tried them with a set of risers but found the scope just a little to high (for me). With the risers the scope tube is still under the 1.5" hunter class height max. limit.

For the money the BKL's are a great deal, but one day when I finally decide what my perfect scope height is I'll cough up the money for some customs.

BKL says all there rings measure 1-1/4" from the center of scope tube (1")to the base and there 1" riser blocks are .765" high. This adds up to 1.515" from base to the bottom of scope tube. Did you find this to be the case or is it inaccurate.

The dimension on the BKL technical data sheet shows the dimension to the bottom of the dovetail. If the 1 ½ dimension is taken from the top of the dovetail, you would probably deduct the .015 difference.

Just a quick measurement without taking stuff apart.

From the flat at top of the finnfire receiver to the bottom of the scope tube I measure .680 inches with the rings.

The riser would actually add another .6 inches after subtracting the dovetail overlap. BKL's measurement is from the toe of their dovetail and not from the top of the rifles receiver.

Thanks eroyd I see it know. So how bout the #257 rings and there 1" wide riser blocks? Is 3/8" ok as opposed to 11mm and, is this the way to go?

The 257 rings are nice to, less bulky and plenty solid. An aquaintance has them and a one piece riser mounted on a Anschutz sil. rifle and they look pretty slick.

The dovetails fit 11mm amd 3/8 dovetails. You can see that the clamps have an extra threaded hole on one side only. The instructions show to thread one of the screws through this hole to slightly expand the clamps for the 11mm dovetail.

I installed a one piece bolt action riser w/droop comp along with 257 rings on my Finnfire with a Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 scope. I haven't shot it enough to have a real firm opinion about my opinion of the riser and the additional height. I can tell you that the 257 rings by themselves would provide plenty of clearance for your scope (although you didn't say if you have the heavy barrel version or the hunter version...mine is the hunter). BKL is a great company and I would readily recommend their products.
