Uberti cattleman.....cylinder pin
« on: July 09, 2004, 07:34:58 PM »
Just got a Uberti Cattleman with a 3.5" barrel and birdshead grip...Just working the action I have already noticed that thumb screw ,that turns in on the cylinder pin locking it in place, loosens up while cocking the gun numerous times.....Under recoil I can only imagine this backing out and falling into oblivion even before the last chamber is fired . Any remedies? :( .

Mine just has the screw and I have had no problems with it backing out.  You might try swapping the thumbscrew for the "regular" screw.  I ordered a couple of spares along with a few grip screws for my "just in case" box.  44 Man

You must be talking about the "Black Powder frame", which uses a screw instead of the crossbolt.  Get the original (Colt style) screw (which needs a screwdriver to use).  VTIgunparts.com has them for the Uberti, and it's worth having spare screws for everyplace on the gun, as Uberti screws are soft and the slots are easily deformed.  Most of the screws are only $2.00 apiece on VTI's website and they make the gun look a lot better when buggered screws get replaced.
