« on: July 10, 2004, 11:59:35 AM »
I ordered a 91/30 today , First one i ever ordered just by seeing pic on a web site.. http://www.simpsonltd.com/LongGuns/Rusky/D4121/D4121.htm

it was cheap enough and my local dealer has ordered some very nice firearms from them..

hopefully it will be better than the $79.00 specials that other distributars handle..

paid $68 for mine and it's as accurate as any rifle I have in my safe.  Took an afternoon to clean the gargage from the stock and barrel, but well worth the effort.

Wait and see where it came from by the import mark it maybe from Century.  Some of these can be found really cheap right now and don't let the cheap prices scare you away.  I recieved some great looking guns from AIM surplus(M38 & M91/59).  My Russian/Finnish captured 91/30's came from Samco Global arms and they were $79 each most were in orginal excellent condition not refinished for us.  They were advertised as Very good condition but it was under rated one some of them.  That was over a year ago and I'm not sure what they have left.  These refinished guns we are seeing right now some still have very used orginal barrels and just the stock is refinished so we must becareful too.  My plan is if I buy one and the bore is iffy its going back for another one. There are some 91/30's for $59 too and M44's are even cheaper their around $39 to $49.  Now is not the time to wait if you want one!!!!!!!!  BigBill

Bill, i have seen some of the "cheap" guns ,, a guy came to the local shop that ordered 3 surplus 79.00 rifles.. one was a .303 with the wire wraps for gernade launching, a M44 and a Swiss something ... all were in poor condidtion ,, the hairlike cracks that they were advertised as having , well when we took the barrel bands off the stocks fell to pieces... the bores were in poor shape, pitted bad , really unusable....
fortunately the guy that bought them was just going to clean them up and use them as wall decor..  not shooters...

The link that i posted shows the actual Mosin that i bought,, looks ok but wont know till next week when it comes in...

I usually don't buy guns off the web ,,if i see one i want i have my dealer get it and if i don't like it or was misrepresented  i don't have to deal with sending it back,, he does this,, thats why i pay more , but its worth it to me...
