i want to get a gun for long range 'yote hunting(400 yds). i like the bull barrel stainless .243 win. i would send my .280 rem handi-rifle frame for the barrel. i would top it with a bushnell 5-15x40 elite 3200(i can get it wholesale for under 200$$

) has any body used this gun/caliber in ss or blued steel??? is it accureate enough to stay in side 7-8" at 400 yds??. i would mybe use it for deer but mainly the .280 is for the deer. i like ALL info. thanks!!!

I figure the 280 is probably the best long range Handi available.
Do you handload?
You could use long range match bullets in the .280 if you don't care about fur damage, or 100gr Barnes solids if you want to save the fur.

My farthest 243 coyoe shot was 250yds. Savage rifle, 85gr Sierra BTHP. Dropped him like a rock. Fur damage was big time though.

My longest shot was with a m 77 Ruger in 220 Swift,at 665yds. with 40gr. BT.at 4100fps. Every 243 I've had shoot the Sierra 85 gr. BTHP in the match grade,very very well. Digger

This was a coyote? How was the range measured? Not doubting you, just that that is a VERY long shot, no matter what you're shooting.
