444 Marlin, they don't make it either but can be made from 44 Mag easily enough.  Seems like a real good compromise caliber to me.  Can be loaded very close to 45-70 or down to 44 Mag loads.

Ratherbefishing and Handirifle:  Have you fellows sent NEF/H&R a letter asking for a return of the .35 Whelen?  Five minutes and the price of postage is all it takes.  If enough people send in a request, they might make a run of those barrels since the R&D has already been done for that caliber.  I sent them a letter a week ago.  Need for others to do the same.  Yes I have a .35 Whelen Handi, but I'll buy another if they are made.  I give them as gifts to my nephews and nieces, upon completion of their Hunter Safety Courses.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Why not just get the available 45-70 and download it?  If you don't handload, most factory ammo is already downloaded to trapdoor specs anyway.  :-)  Recoil isn't too bad with 400gr lead bullets at trapdoor velocities.

Then there's the 38-55 if that'll fit the bill.

i'd like to get them to bring back the 357 mag. i ask them every month if they can do it, but the answer is no.

that would be worth writing a letter for.
