Air shotguns

Does anyone have information about air shotguns?.Back in the 60ts i was puting in a plating system in the crossmen plant in NY state.While there they had a prototipe air shotgun they let me and my co-worker shoot.I never heard if it hit the streets or not.It sure was a lot of fun.They even littlr plastic diskes that came apart when hit when thrown.pan.

Hello Panman,

Did the shotgun, by chance, look anything like the Remington Model 1100 shotgun? Crosman did produce the 1100 Trapmaster CO2 powered shotgun. Kind of ironic to find your post, since I was thumbing through my 2nd Edition Air Gun Digest by J I Galan last night.  He states it was a single shot, and was offered in a kit form with plastic disks that could be snapped back together after being shot. It was withdrawn from the market after two years.

They advertised that you could use them in your garage.  While that may have been true they were also noisy.  Police received a number of complaints about people shooting them in town.  Sales were never good on them and their power was not enough to dispatch pest birds in ones garden at 30 feet.  I knew a couple of people that had them.  Lawdog

Thanks guys.Its to bad, we had a lot of fun with them.They were single shot.Cant rember in detail what they looked like[too many years].They had a shootshel made of plastic that housed the shot,the shot size was maybe 9 or maybe smaller[special made for them?.] Again i dont rember exactly but you put 2or3 co2 ctg in the but or pistel grip and it was good for maybe 10 shoots.I dont know how much power it had but at about30-40ft they had 2-3 large peaces of heavy cardbord and i remember cheaking them out, and a lot of the pellets went through and put little nocks in the block wall.Its to bad they didnt do any good,they were a lot of fun.Must of been to to much money to shoot a lot,gun, shotshells and co2s.pan.

The 1100 Trapmaster was made 1968-71. They used 2 powerlets, and shells containing about 55 #8 shot pellets. It's popular still among collectors and shooters. Besides using the preloaded shells, it possible to use .375 lead balls in the 1100 to good effect on small game.

great for shooting flying insects out of the air especually bumble (carpenter) Bees and grass hoppers. The 375 round balls will take rabbits at close range. the guns come with a high and low power range and mac -1 can do a bit of tweaking to get 500 or so fps out of them in hi. they do resemble an 1100 remington shotgun but have no storage for shotshells in the but unless you make one the shells can be reloaded and actually are avaiable new today from a specuality loader Phonex manf  I think is their name. I have to order a couple of boxes some time. I still currently have 1 loaded box and enough shells to load my own for quite some time.  Prices have gone up in the last couple of years that a excellent condition one goes for close to or over $200. I have no plans to part with mine.
