New reloading accessory
« on: July 14, 2004, 04:09:09 AM »
I just decided to try my new loading accessory this weekend: My 12 year old son. He can wipe the excess lube off of our prairie dog cartridges.

Several years ago I thought about gettin' me one of those. At the time I didn't have room to keep one. Now I got the room but I'm kinda use to the way I've been reloading all these years.  :)

Got me one of those...............mine is a year newer model and pretty effective. Knows more about handloading than most adult men. He can pretty much do the whole process including precision measuring, component selection and setting up a powder measure and scale. My only problem is that when we load up for a prairie dog shoots  'my model' insists on using the ammo.

Probably one of the best parts is taking him to a gun show ..........he will browse over a table full of loading stuff. The guy behind the table makes some stupid comment about "don't touch that sonny" or "does your daddy know what that is". My son will quickly and skillfully reduce this smuck to blubbering with his extensive knowledge of loading and components.

Usually I don't get a second model of the same item until I know the first one works well, like my Lee Autoprimes.  But I didn't want to wait long enough to test the first one.  They're 3 and 6 so for now they are limited to very minor chores and banned from the loading room while I'm really loading.  But some day soon. ....  And yes I see it coming; I'll be loading and they'll be doing the shooting.  May as well not kid myself.  Saw it happen to my neighbor.
