Can anything be done to smooth up or lighten the safety on Beretta double barrel shotguns? I have one SxS and three O/U. All have stiff safeties, but one of the O/U's seems really tough.

Yes indeed. They can be lightened and still remain safe. I've done just that to several O/U and have worked the safeties on several LCSmiths.. a real pain I assure you. But they too can be made all better... Any good smith should be able to help you out..

Thanks for the response. The search is on for a good gunsmith. I'm pretty anal about my guns and don't want any scratches or burred screwheads, so "good gunsmith" is imperative. Thanks again.

Also a good idea for someone working on the safety device on a leathal weapon. You might consider removing the butt stock yourself and cleaning and lubricating the mechanism. With the butt stock off it should be visable. Most often that's all that's needed to make them work a bit easier. The butt stock is easy to remove. Depending on the model they are usually held on by a thru bolt accessable by removing the recoil pad or butt plate. The bolt head will be visiable at the bottom of the hole found there. It's really a simple task. If you'd like to try this and have any questions please feel free. This is something an individual can usually do themselve..
